All furniture brought in for
restoration is given the same level of attention, a feature that puts Grimes
in a class by itself. After a thorough evaluation, each piece is hand-stripped
using a three-step process that includes a neutralizer and color control that
revitalizes the natural wood color. Other shops often don't follow through
with the last two steps, and it frequently shows in the finished results.
Finally, the piece is finished by applying several coats of the finest quality
stains, sealers and lacquers. All of these painstaking efforts are reflected
in the finished product.
